Transgender Harassment and Discrimination

We are well aware of the harassment and discrimination that transgender people face every day just trying to live authentic lives. We take allegations of harassment against transgender persons very seriously.

Harassment and discrimination based on someone's transgender status are afforded the same legal protection as harassment based on a person's sex, gender, gender expression, gender identity or sexual orientation. These are all forms of unlawful sexual harassment under state and federal law.

State and federal laws also protect the right of transgender perons to have access to the restroom which corresponds with their gender identity. The Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that all employers provide safe and sanitary toilet facilities. Transgender victims of harassment and discrimination have the right to be compensated for their suffering. These cases often involve substantial emotional distress, pain, suffering and lost income.
