Can I sue Walmart for wrongful termination?

Walmart is possibly the largest violator of employment laws in the United States. Walmart, by corporate plan and design, intentionally violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other laws enacted to protect disabled workers.  

In a Memorandum to the Board of Directors of Walmart, company executive Susan Chambers instructs the company to cut costs by taking the following steps:

  • Do NOT hire disabled workers
  • Do NOT hire people who are ill
  • Hire only healthy people
  • Do NOT hire older people
  • Hire young people
  • Offer better benefits to healty workers than workers with disabilities
  • Avoid low income employees because they "overuse" their employment benefits
  • Avoid older workers because they cost more but produce no better than younger workers

Walmart's Executive Benefits Steering Committee received these discriminatory recommendations "enthusiastically."

Walmart fails to properly train management in its stores to recognize the needs of workers with disabilities.  As a result, individual stores are failing their disabled employees in providing reasonable accommodatons or even engaging in a good faith dialogue regarding accommodations, as required by the ADA.

Walmart has made itself a strong target for employment lawsuits, both individual and class action.  Understanding Walmart's business practices is the key to recovering a large settlement from Walmart, or taking Walmart to a jury when they resist paying fair compensation in wrongful termination cases.
