Los Angeles Whistleblower Qui Tam Lawyer
Protect Yourself from Retaliation
When a company is engaging in activities that violate local, state or federal laws or statutes, and an employee of that company reports or even just threatens to report those activities to the government, whistleblower laws are designed to protect the employee from retaliation. If an employer takes action against you for calling them out on their unlawful conduct, you have rights. The California False Claims Act and the writ of qui tam may allow an employee to be awarded a percentage of the recovery obtained from a lawsuit against their company.
At Rutten Law Group, PC, located in Beverly Hills and serving the surrounding communities of the Los Angeles area, our employment law attorneys understand how difficult it can be for employees to report their employers for illegal activities. We can provide the protection that you need and make sure that your rights are upheld under the employment laws of California. If you believe that you may have a whistleblower or qui tam claim, you need to speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
Qui Tam and the False Claims Act
The writ of qui tam is a common law writ that allows an individual who has information about a company's illegal activities to bring a lawsuit on behalf of the United States and to receive part of any penalty that is imposed.
The False Claims Act is a federal law that is a more specific form of qui tam. Also called the "Lincoln Law," because of its origins during the Civil War, the act states that any company or organization is liable if they are guilty of fraud against the government. Individuals who are not affiliated with the government may file claims under the False Claims Act and may receive a portion of any damages that are recovered in the suit.
At Rutten Law Group, PC, our lawyers have assisted employees in whistleblower and qui tam claims and have successfully obtained compensation for our clients. We have the experience and legal knowledge necessary to provide the representation that your case deserves.
